Perhaps printing out those TSA brochures and flyers would help? One would have thought that after so long, TSA agents would have known what their own policies are? There should be more people writing to their representatives about the (un)ethics of getting irradiated unnecessarily!
Maybe you could fly into LAX and then return from LGB? There are international connections that don't require clearing security again. It's possible to make it work.

As far as being "allowed" to opt-out, you can. It's just that the worst case is you end up calling for a supervisor and standing your ground. (And then perhaps you'll have a sore groin later.)

(It sounds so much worse when you actually type all of that out.)

It was still clear at PHL D/E when I passed through a month ago; that would really be unfortunate if they've added them. Can anyone confirm this?

Hopefully there are still checkpoints in terminal A that are clear; now I just have to figure out how to get to them from curbside. :-/

Where are these new BKSX machines coming from? I thought TSA's only outstanding orders were for MMWs. Are these machines being relocated after the creation of pre-check lines?

D/E is clear for now.

This is wrong. Still no scanners in sight at PHL D/E as of earlier this week.

E15 and E16 (to the left or right of AS/DL/VX ticket counters) are safe. The rest of E is not.

I think that A23 is now the only other safe checkpoint in the airport.

I know it may seem silly and unpractical(and unlikely), but I'd rather not go through those machines or get the invasive pat down if it came to it.
Bump.

I'd like a MIA update too.

couple of notes on BOS:

- AC gates, last i saw, were WTMD only, with no room for a NoS. however, when i mentioned to the TSO how nice it was to use that checkpoint, he gave me a wink-wink-nudge-nudge that something might be happening.

- DL/CO gates are a very difficult SDOO, unless you get there just around the 1:30pm shift change. this can result in a line not moving for 10 minutes, but it also presents some of the only SDOO opportunities i see at this terminal. today, i was not at all subtle about it -- i went thru the sky priority line, then hopped over to the other side after the TDC when i saw that the BKSX was closed on that side.

Seat1A, do you know if the Virgin America gate(s) at BOS is still its own WTMD-only checkpoint?

i don't know -- haven't been in that area in at least a year -- but it's similar to the AC gates. i'm sure TSA would love to put something in, but they're both tiny corners of the airport, with 2-3 gates, and a checkpoint squeezed in. there's not room for both NoS and WTMD. (and, they'd have to find a new rapiscan unit, and it sounds like those just aren't coming in...)

afaik, they haven't *moved* -- still in that random corner on the AA side of B...

Yes, this checkpoint is still WTMD-only.

LAX Terminal 6 update?

Any updates on the new LAX terminal 6? I was reading about the renovations to Terminal 6 in the LA Times today, which included a comment about an "improved" security checkpoint.

I fear that this C ckpt IN CLT may end up being "precheck" only. =/
