Global Entry nightmare

After reading the rave reviews about this program, I joined. No problems with the online application process and the interview.

I've attempted to use the kiosk three times at JFK and once at Newark. The system never asked for me to confirm my flight information and a clock counted down 80 seconds after I provided my fingerprints and answered the questions. I took the receipt with the X to a desk and each time was escorted to the CBP office. The officer then questioned me as to why my passport was on their desk and why didn't I receive a screening at passport control. Repeated explanations until they finally understood that I was brought to the office and was not given a choice.

Escorted back to a screening desk and finally cleared. Spoke with the CBP customer service line...received apologies and no further follow-up.

Much quicker and easier to wait on line to see a CBP officer. $100 and my time wasted.

I'm done with this!

Go to the closest GE Enrollment Center and ask them for help. Perhaps there is something wrong with your profile in the system and a few keystrokes will fix the problem. You have to get to the root cause-- doesn't seem anyone's done that. It seems people have overridden the problem, but not fixed the underlying cause. Got to the GE Enrollment Office and see what's up.

And if waiting in line is faster for you, then you must be going through the right ports at the right times!

I agree with Ari that there must be something wrong in your profile. Of the 10-15 times I have used the kiosk, I have only had one X and that was at ORD and it said on the screen that the fingerprint capture wasn't done right. I went to the nearest counter and was passed right away. A couple of weeks later, I received an email from CBP apologizing for the problem with the fingerprint capture so they have a log if there was a problem. If this has happened to you four times, something is wrong with your profile in the system.
