TDC @ PBI

Going through PBI I handed my TX DL to the TDC. He did the usual ultra secret black light viewing but then looked at each line of the name and address. The tell was watching his pen move slowly along each line of my personal information. He took way to long studying the information.

Having been a victim of a home burglary I am very cautious of my personal information. Being hours away from home this person could have easily communicated the information from my ID to others. A bit of a stretch but with the history of TSA employees not out of the question.

Having to display ID to TSA is just wrong. Watch list matching has already been done by the airlines. There is no justification for TSA to require ID other than as a form of control over citizens travel.

I will say that the checkpoint was orderly, moved along well and no yelling was going on.

I would have clearly asked why he was looking intently at my address and demand a supervisor.

This is one of the many reasons I use my CAC (during those times when I happen to be on a contract requiring one) - no address information.

Of course, some of the TSA apologists will be on here shortly to say there was nothing wrong with the TSO viewing, intently, your address information. Having been a victim of both credit card fraud and ID theft earlier in life, I take a dim view to anyone that insists on intently studying my ID cards.

Let my PP expire, will fix that error. Also a reason to have a PO Box on ID if possible not a physical address.

Of course if TSA didn't hire felons and such we might not have as many concerns.

Once they start enforcing REAL ID requirements, even this won't be an option. REAL ID requires one's physical address on the actual card.

You know my memory isn't as good as it once was but for the life of me I don't remember moving to the old USSR.

NEXUS card all the way. No address information and the only number is tiny and on the back, where they have no business looking.

+1. I always use my NEXUS card.

I usually use my passport. I placed a small white label over the address portion of my driver's license. I'll happily remove it should a LEO ask. I won't remove it for the TSA. I have had some TSA'ers question it but never make a big deal out of it except one. This one jackhole decided to SSSS me manually as she didn't like it. Problem was, she was using a hi-liter pen on a glossy boarding pass. I walked by her and rubbed the ssss off with my fingers. Problem solved.

Another reason to use my airline id & screw them if they give me a hard time again about it.

Until they tell you that NEXUS is not a valid ID and you have to waste time by requesting a supervisor who is an idiot...

^:p Good idea! I have noticed that most TDCs have a pen that rubs off right after they mark the BP....

You didn't have to move. Some SF author opined fifty years ago that in the future the USSR would be more like the USA and vice versa. That author was right.

Or you could also print an extra copy of your BP.

I do that as one of my "layers of harassment avoidance".

mileena Feb 28, 2010 4:15 pm

the other option is to tell them you don't have ID. you don't need ID to fly.

I use my CAC too, but the thing I don't much like is the fact that it has my SSN on the back. I know DOD announced that SSNs were going to be removed with the new CAC design, but I've yet to see that actually happen (my last 2 CACs have been of the new cardstock, but still have my SSN).
