US 3079 LGA-SDF diverts, security concerns

No link, has been breaking news on CNN.

US 3079 aka CHQ 3079 LGA-SDF diverts to PHL due to "security concerns"

What was it this time?

Rowdy Pax? Abundance of Caution(tm) Pax in 1A realizes not in First Class?

Given it's a 2~ hr haul on an E145, we know no Spiff on board. Spiff doesn't do RJ's.

Somebody must have forgotten that you can't pee on the plane.

A Jewish man decided to pray with his tefillin. It was confused with being a bomb. Gotta love US ScAirways.

Looks like a crewmember mistook a religious item for something else.

Flight headed to Louisville makes emergency landing

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Aviation sources tell NBC News the flight diverted because of a suspicious passenger...passenger was escorted off the plane by law enforcement.

Gotta love TSA Spin - Prayer is now "disruptive"

"The plane was diverted to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), where it landed without incident at approximately 8:50 AM EST.

"Per standard procedures, TSA and law enforcement personnel met the flight. The disruptive passenger was interviewed, the plane was swept with negative findings, and the flight is taxiing to the gate."

Nothing about whether the detained prayer was permitted to continue on his merry way.

They brought out the welcome wagon over a "cultural misunderstanding." Heck of a job!

They'll just pass the buck to Chautauqua and deny any responsibility.

Somewhere in Pakistan Osama Bin Laden is reading this article and laughing.:td::rolleyes::td:

OK I can understand the FA might not have known what the guy was putting on, and got worried

what I dont get is why that guy didnt pray before getting on the RJ. He could have prayed starting at appx 6:20am.

Given the choice, Id pray standing in the term over my seat (especially on an RJ) any time.

DevilDog438 Jan 21, 2010 8:41 am

Yup, no longer allowed to pray on a flight...must pray in the boarding area. As we have seen in the past couple of years, that also goes over about as well as a fart in a spacesuit with TSA and the inevitable "Abundance of Caution."

Trollkiller Jan 21, 2010 8:41 am

Somebody must have forgotten that you can't PRAY on the plane.

A later article said he was removed from the plane for questioning.

But the inaccuracy of the times in these articles bothers me. Don't the reporters even bother to check? It's not that inaccurate, but it's so easy to get it exactly right.

Correct - but there is no follow on information about whether US ScAirways is going to permit this passenger to continue on his intended journey.
