Terrorism Service Administration.
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009...dministration/
On too many days, it is easy to forget that the T and the S in TSA stand for "Transportation Security." More to the point would be "Totally Squandered" credibility, "Terminally Sloppy" screening and - most recently - "Transparent Secrets." The TSA has wasted millions of dollars on untested equipment that it turns out can't stop explosives from passing through its airport checkpoints. The agency's baggage screeners fail skills tests so often that employee representatives are pressing to abandon the tests. Now we learn agency officials approved the posting of documents online that outline standard operating procedures for screening airplane passengers. This snafu offers a road map for slipping through airport security. ... |
Welcome to the party, Washington Times. I was wondering where you were all last week while the rest of the media covered this story. Better late than never; you made up for it with this:
All right, add "Truly Specious" to the list of sobriquets that apply to this bureaucracy. and the real problem at the agency isn't one of failure, but a culture of incompetence. If the George W. Bush administration had one historic achievement, it was preventing terrorists from striking at the United States for seven years after Sept. 11, 2001. |
"
and the real problem at the agency isn't one of failure, but a culture of incompetence.." Then the D in DHS must stand for dysfunctional. |
No chance for any significant change until the current leadership is removed.

I know I'm not the only FTers to have suggested the notion shortly after the Obama Administration took office that reforming or abolishing the TSA would not be very high up on the priority list in the grand scheme of things. We even asserted that the TSA wouldn't be very high up on Nappy's priority list because she would have border security and fixing FEMA as her top priorities.
We concluded that the only way for the TSA to rise to the top of the list would be for them to do something really stupid and self-destruct. I'm not posting this to say "I told you so." I'm writing to thank the TSA for not disappointing us. |

I'm not humble like Flies - I'll say that I was one of those who, many years ago before Obama, predicted that the TSA would collapse upon itself from sheer incompetence, so I echo his thanks. |
If one of us had posted some of that, the TSA apologists would probably be all over us. :)
