Teaching young kids about airport security

Apparently there is a helpful new toy on the market that can educate youngsters what the experience of going through airport security is like.

A friend passed this along as he felt the customer reviews of the product were far more entertaining then the product. I am surprised Leno and Letterman didn't have fun with this. Worth a quick look.
I got a quick chuckle:)

They left out the bin for prohibited items...

That one's been around for a good 3-4 years at least, and threats about it pop up from time to time. It was interesting to see a lot more comments about it, but the first one is still the best.

My ex-wife bought that for me as an anniversary gift one year. :D

It is not very realistic. The traveler and "officers" are all smiling.

For REALISM, the PAX would have to be anatomically correct in case of secondary...

You sure talk alot about kids, and now this statement?

bmw303 Jan 17, 2009 3:24 pm

why is the toy so expensive? the police car for instance is like $190!

Princess1 Jan 17, 2009 4:25 pm

For a few dollars more, you can get the animated versions. Wave a bottle of water and watch them react!

Lumpy Jan 17, 2009 4:35 pm

Sorry, tsadude. Are kids now exempt from TSA's partial (and ALWAYS invasive) public strip-searches? I didn't start it, sir, and as a former teacher would sure as hell know better than to practice it in public OR private.

YOU?

Travel Security Theater...for kids!

An item on The Atlantic Monthly blog about Playmobil's airport security checkpoint toy (apparently it's been around long enough to engender snarky reviews on Amazon) and now, a new online game called Airport Security.

Read it and weep.

So how do you win this game? Steal the most stuff out of bags to sell on eBay?

triehle Jan 26, 2009 3:09 pm

No Shirts

You have to stay on your toes playing the online game. What's allowed and not allowed in carry-ons changes all the time!! (Just like at the real airport.)

Open the link to the Atlantic blog and you'll see a screen grab where the instructions read: "Due to increased security measures, passengers will not be permitted to wear SHIRTS through the security checkpoint." Aiieee!

N965VJ Jan 26, 2009 3:13 pm

This is funny! I’m not a gamer, but I messed around with it. The game levels are Fickle, Arbitrary or Knee Jerk. Slogans like “Stay dry, help us fight the war on moisture!” flash on a sign above the WTMD, and prohibited items can include wearing pants.

Linkage to game

Take the most personal possessions out of passengers' bags and toss them around to the most co-workers in time before time runs out.
