Thank you, AngryMiller -----Original Message----- From: OSO-Correspondence [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tue 11/17/2009 1:54 PM To: Miller,Angry Subject: Dear Mr. Miller Thank you for your electronic message of DELETED, to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Contact Center concerning locking options for securing your tool chest when you are going through security checkpoints. If a passenger chooses not to purchase TSA-approved locks, he or she may request to be present during the screening of their checked baggage when going through the security checkpoint. You must make the request to your airline when checking in. Upon completion of the screening process, you will be able to lock your bag. Thank you for your inquiry and I hope this information is helpful. Sincerely yours, Chad DELETED Assistant General Manager for Communications and Resolutions Office of Security Operations ************************************************** The above correspondence is as I received it except for sections in bold. The IP address was checked and it did come from the folks at DHS. Chad's last name was deleted as a courtesy. This is all of the information I have and it does look like it is valid. None of the page formatting was altered except for items in bold. |
The few times I travel on orders and happen to carry my duffel bag, I always put my own lock on it. Even at airports not accustomed to military luggage, it's never been an issue. Drop it off at oversize baggage, they scan it, then tell you that you are good to go.
