That is a great idea! But as an aside to the OP, I think the TSA only changes things when they get caught violating their own rules. We could do more to change the TSA abuse by using our (retired folks like me) time monitoring the TSA inspection areas with a small video camera for allowed violations (like BS) and then posting them widely on blogs and on youtube. Embarrass the heck out of the TSA and maybe they will change!

^^ for you

Sad that TSA has to be shamed into doing better.

To feel embarrassment I think you have to have morals first.

Yes, but it's because we have pressed them when something outrageous has happened. If we'd ignored it, they would keep on violating their own rules.

It's clear to me that the only individual capable of changing the TSA is Britney Spears. I'm sure she's got a Twitter site, Facebook, etc. We should thank her for doing her civic duty and embarassing the TSA into a change.

Then, a bunch of us need to chip in for a backstage pass to her next concert so we can discuss with her topics such as:

1. The shoe fetish
2. The war on liquids (not just ice)
3. What really happens in the strip search machines
4. Way over the top groping -- heck, groping at all without a specific defendable reason
5. Gate gropes
6. The various lists

We need to see if she would be willing to take on these other issues, one checkpoint at a time.

I'm not going to argue with success.

That's a fantastic idea! The problem is convincing the TSA that I accidentally forgot the gallon of used motor oil in my rollaboard.

perhaps we should start a list of changes we'd most like to see at TSA.

Ending the shoe carnival, no strip search machines, and refocusing TSA's procedures to focus on real threats would be my top 3.

I have only one: TSA delenda est.

Just look really disappointed that you have to surrender it. After all you'll miss your plane if you have to do something with it.:D

Just tell them you were taking it to PHX (or wherever your flight is to) to dispose of it!

Please - this is the all new green environmental world.

You were taking it to PHX to RECYCLE it - as it is not hazardous waste if it continues to serve a useful purpose.

It only becomes hazardous waste when you put it in the trash can of the checkpoint.

Mercury is HAZMAT any way you slice it in 2009. Oh and I just took some of my CFC Uber Green lightbulbs and turned them into TSA. They are far too hazardous for my house and I did not pass a Home Depot on the way to the airport. TSA agent did not even flinch and just tossed them in her confiscation bucket.
