Mileage Bonus Cap?
 

Thanks to you all I signed up for MCI's 25,000 mile promo with American. All was well until some unnamed firm switched me away without my knowledge - when MCI called to get me back they offered 5,000 more miles. Great, except that CS later told me that I wouldn't be getting those extra miles because 25K is the maximum they can give a year.

Has anyone else run into this? Heard something different? How does that mesh with the 5m/$1 we're all earning on our MCI bills?
