MCI Solicitation - Badmouthing Sprint

I just got an unsolicated call from MCI. The rep said that they noticed that I switched away from MCI, would give me 10k CO OnePass miles to switch back. I said no, and he asked, why?

I told him that Sprint offered me 25k miles NorthWest WorldPerks miles and that why would I take only 10k miles and switch back to MCI? He tried to tell me that OnePass miles are better than WorldPerks miles and that is why they dropped NorthWest a little while ago! (Being a very Frequent traveler, I know the differences between WorldPerks and OnePass and they are minor, afterall, they are in a very, very tight alliance)

Then, armed with information from all of you here at FlyerTalk, I asked him why he didn't offer me 25k miles with OnePass? He tried to say that program didn't exist at first, then realized that I knew what I was talking about. He then said:
Sprint copied us with the 25k promotion, we are a better company than them, and I would of offered you the 25k bonus as well, but I'm just not going to - you stick with Sprint and see what happens!
I know that this isn't indicative of the whole company - just very interesting how this one rep. acted.

This is just a way to show that how important and powerful it is to share information on FlyerTalk. I'm sure almost all of us has had some kinds of problem with airlines, phone companies etc and we team up here to fight back.

I HAVE BEEN A MCI-ONEPASS MEMBER FOR OVER A YEAR. I SPEND ABOUT $150 PER MONTH IN LONG DISTANCE CHARGES. I WAS HAPPY WITH MCI.

WHEN I SAW SPRINT'S OFFER FOR 25000 NW MILES,
I COULDN'T TURN IT DOWN. THAT IS A FREE TICKET, PLUS SOME (FOR OFF PEAK CONTINENTAL),
PLUS YOUN STILL GET 5 MILES PER $.

I CALLED MCI AND ASKED THEM TO GIVE ME WHAT SPRINT OFFERED BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO SWITCH. THEY GAVE ME A REAL PERTY SONG AND DANCE STORY ABOUT HOW IT WOULD TAKE 60-90 DAYS TO GET THIS APPROVED.....LIKE I WAS SOME KINDA DINGBAT. I CALLED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ELSE A COUPLE DAYS LATER.....THAT PERSON ALSO INSULTED MY INTELLIGENCE.

I LEFT MCI AND TOOK MY 25000 WORLDPERKS.
ALONG WITH 5 MILES X $150 PER MONTH. I DON'T THINK THOSE DO-DO'S CAN AFFORD TO DO THAT TOO MANY TIMES........

Does anyone, anywhere qualify for this promo? I'm still waiting for an MCI supervisor to respond to me. Can I call Sprint and get 25k for going back? Any details or codes necessary?

If you want to go Sprint and get the 25,000 Northwest WorldPerks miles, you get 5,000 for switching to Sprint and 5,000 miles/month for the next 4 months. 877-282-6742, must ask for "Sprint SenseDay"

For MCI: Same deal as above, 25k miles with respective partners. The codes & phone numbers are:
Z25A-American, 800-432-3426
Z25C-Continental, 800-256-1474
Z25D-Delta. 800-269-2292

When I switched to Sprint, the rep. told me the domestic rates are:

Mon - Fri 7am-7pm $0.25
Other wkday time $0.10
Sat & Sun all day $0.05
Plus min $5.00 / month

But when I received the confirmation letter, it is $0.15 all hrs all days.

The international rates (including Canada) are terrible since the rep. didn't allow me to sign up for any international plan (but don't have to pay the $3 monthly fee). I better use 10-10-XXX for international calls.

Also, the rep. tried to give me some other plans (of course, they don't want to give away 25K). So, stand firm and insist that you just want 25K plan.

they told me 15cents per minute monday thru saturday 24 hours....5 cents on sunday

then 50 cents a minute for the foncard-24hours.

you are still getting 25,000 miles over a
4-month period plus 5 miles per buck.

not bad for 4 months, then if you don't like them, take the free flight and call them on the airfone to cancel and sign up with mci for another free ticket.

things are getting pretty crazy up here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's going on? One rep, one price- another rep, another price? Or different programs, geographical differences?

it is according to who the rep is, what kinda day they are having, how nice you are and how pleasant your voice is, and a number of other different variables.

i was nice, pleasant, and immediately complemented the rep on how intelligent he sounded.

it was all downhill after that.....

Perhaps the MCI rep really knew he was a dunce and you were really insulting him. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
