New AT&T Rate Plan

I just switched back to AT&T to cash a check I was sent. I found a new plan that has no monthly fee or minimun. There is a 35 cent per call "connection fee" and the per minute rate is 7 cents on state to state calls and 5 cents on instate calls, 24/7. Since I make my LD calls on onesuite.com , I don't care about the fee. I'm sure MCI will be calling back soon with an offer of more miles but after reading this story today, maybe not.

How much was the check? I have been an aggressive long-distance "flipper" for several years, and always switched to AT&T whenever they sent me a check, which was usually between $75 and $100. But lately they've cheapened up, sending a check for around $15 or $20 -- which, considering that my local phone company charges me $5 to switch, isn't worth it. I'm wondering if they've tightened up generally, or whether they've ID'ed me as a flipper and aren't going to offer those generous cash rewards to keep switching back and forth any more.

BB, The check was for $45 but they are sending an additional $10 to cover the switching. Since I just received my last milage installment from MCI, I figured why not. Remember, you can request any phone plan they offer, not just the one indicated on the check (see my previous post in this thread).

You're getting checks totaling $55, and I'm getting $15? Looks like my past flipping reputation has caught up with me. (Sigh) Well, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the info.

My check was for $90. It went in the trash.

How come? I presume it's because you don't like AT&T? But why not cash the check, let AT&T be your carrier for about a week, then switch back to your favorite carrier -- who will probably give you between 5,000 and 10,000 extra frequent flyer miles as a "new subscriber". I did this quite frequently over several years, and netted well over $1,000 cash and 100,000 frequent flyer miles before my reputation as a "flipper" (apparently) poisoned the well. Still came out well ahead, though. I'd switch carriers tomorrow if a $90 check or a deal like the 40K Sprint/Northwest offer came along again.
