OnePass Miles for ATTWS

I received a flyer from AT&T/Continental OnePass this week, offering 5,000 OnePass miles for signing up for AT&T wireless service, as well as a Nokia 5160i for $99.99. Call 1-800-363-1366.

There was no mention of mileage for ongoing usage.

ALERT!!

My daughter, 18 yr old college freshman, signed up for Cell One (now ATT Wireless) with me as a witness. The sales person was the manager of a local office. He called credit and stated that, since she was so young and had no credit history, ATT would only give her a $100 limit/mo. At an expenditure of $100, her cell phone would shut down until the bill was paid. LIES!!! Her first bill was $300! They had a million excuses why that was, clueless staff manning the phones, and a supervisor who would not call back. First offer: cut the bill $100. My daughter was too young for the task - they ran roughshod over her. Finally, armed with names and dates, I wrote the prez in San Fran and his assistant called to tell me that they would accept her $100 payment as payment-in-full. Cancelled the phone, needless to say. A competitor told my daughter that there was a class action lawsuit over this very issue. Could not find it.

Let this serve as a warning.

Karen2-

A friend of mine had a son start college last Sept. He bought him a pre-paid cell phone with, I think, about 100 dollas worth of calls. When the son reaches this, the phone dies and they recharge it with a nice re-negotiated father-son financial agreement.

One better: I yanked it from her cold hard grip! She just slipped a few decades back from the information age. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I received a similar offer from ATTWS, but mine was 5,000 Starwood points. This cemented my switch from Sprint PCS and I am very happy with the new service. And best of all the Starpoints even posted to my account!
