Marriott Rewards for Switching?
How can I get Marriott Rewards points for swtiching my long-distance to AT&T?
And how can I earn more points for continued usage? I checked both the AT&T and Marriott web sites, and cannot find any mention. What good AT&T offers are floating out there? |
I don't know the number for switching, but the AT&T Partner Affinity Office is 1-800-288-2662. They might know. The standard bonus is 5k, sometimes this doubles to 10k. That's about all I've seen.
BTW, I switched to AT&T on October 20, 1999. I still have not gotten my points. I've called AT&T every week for three months; my file with them is *SEVEN* pages long. It takes most agents ten minutes to read all the notes on my account. Every agent swears they will resolve the problem -- and every agent is completely useless. YMMV, but I'm going back to MCI. |
I opted to go with one of the cold, hard cash AT&T offers, which takes a very predictable amount of time to show up... in my checking account. (Although I'm secretly hoping that one of the other carriers will notice my recent switch and either try to convince me to stay or try to convince me to switch to them instead, since clearly my loyalty is currently wavering....)

good luck in getting them to post the points be ready to caall them monthly

OK ... you steered me away. It looks like AT&T has moved away from rewards, again. It seems like every 2-3 years it swings from many points rewards to none and back.

For what it's worth:
Everytime I switch to AT&T through Marriott Rewards, it always takes AT&T roughly 4-5 months to credit the 5,000 points. While this sounds particularly unacceptable to most of us, I find myself lucky that I get the points in the first place. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif So allow 4-5 months for it to post and try not to call them at all until then; it's just a waste of your time, IMHO. I believe the Marriott pamphlet stated that it may take 180 days to get your points. Also, for the past two years AT&T and Marriott seems to offer the 10,000 points deal around Oct/Nov, so you may want to wait till then. Oh and one more thing, I believe the program checks that you don't have more than two AT&T Sign Up bonus posting a year (with the same frequent stay program). Either that, or no two AT&T postings within 6 months. This is why I got 5,000 Marriott points for switching in Apr 99 and when I signed up for the 10,000 points in Nov 99 (for a different phone line), I got zip. Thanks. |
I switched to ATT w/ Marriott 2 months ago and haven't gotton my 5,000 points. However, I switched for the points but more importantly to get MCI to call me and offer 10,000 US miles (5,000 now and 1,000 each month for 5 months). Everytime my MCI monthly bonus runs out I switch for miles or ATT cash if they send the check or just to start the US bonuses again. If you leave them they WILL call within a week.
Since I was only w/ ATT for 1 week I can't complain too much if I don't get the points. They will be nice if they post. ------------------ |
After complaining about not getting Rewards points, ATT gave me a 13,000 bonus. (I've been an ATT customer for years.) Suggest you ask for an ATT supervisor if you call back.

Complained two weeks ago.
5k bonus posted on Friday, 4 1/2 months after I switched from Sprint. AT&T will lose my business before the week is over. |
