Exclamation October 22, Census Day Warning about daytime curfew in Peru

The 22nd of October is national Census day and all persons - citizens, residents and tourists - need to stay in their hotel or home from 8 AM to 5 PM. No one is allowed out on the streets.

Independent travelers arriving at the airport will not be allowed to leave until 5 PM. All tourist facilities and restaurants in the country will be closed. Thanks to Alan P on another forum.

However, all flights are apparently operating normally: http://elcomercio.pe/peru/censo-2017...noticia-463655 . What happens outside of the airport during the curfew is a bit sketchy, you may be required to remain there,

I was in Peru the day of the census in 2007. I was quite surprised to be counted. I told the census worker who came to my hotel room that I was a tourist and just visiting the country. She told me that was fine, and that I was part of the tally for being in Peru on that day.
