check out of hotel or not?
I'd love some advice, please. I will be visiting Lima next month and my return trip is on the DL flight at 1:25AM. I plan on leaving for the airport at 10:00PM (I'm in biz class and don't mind waiting in the lounge, even if it's as crazy as the reports suggest.) anyway, my question is whether or not I should keep my hotel thru the night or just check out at noon on that day and roam around the city for 10 hours. If I do decide to check out of the hotel, would there be things to do for 10 hours or so? If it matters, I'm on a Monday, 1:25AM flight so I'd be possibly checking out on Sunday at noon and looking for things to do from noon until I go to the airport that evening. I'd LOVE any advice you have. Thanks in advance.

As gold at Sheraton I was guaranteed a 4pm check-out, and the hotel ended up giving us 6pm. Is that an option for you?
We we're out much of the day and came back around 330, had a chance to rest, wash up, and hit the club lounge before check-out. We then went out and had a nice lesiurely dinner and walk around the city, before heading back to the hotel to grab our bags and proceed to the airport.
The lounge is a decent place to have a drink, but definitely not pleasant for a long stay.

Obviously the things you should take into consideration are your room rate, etc, whether you can get a late check out. There's definitely enough to do: tour city center, look at the fountain park at night for an hour or two, have a long lunch at one of Lima's amazing restaurants (most places close for Sunday dinner, with the exception of Huaca Pucllana).
We recently had a flight at 10:30PM, but was granted a 4:00PM late check out at the Four Points Miraflores due to Platinum status. However, if I was checking out at 10:00PM I would have gladly spent an extra U$110 in order to have a room available to freshen up and get a little break in the middle of the day.

Lot of things to do at afternoon, including a nice dinner at evening. You can hang around in Miraflores, downtown Lima, Barranco, etc.
As usual, museums close at 5pm aprox. Now, what are you interested in?
