Urubamba bridge collapse
FYI, just came across this pop-up warning on the Perurail website (http://www.perurail.com/en/) Not sure what it means or how it may affect travel to-from MP, especially those taking the train to-from the Ollantaytambo station.
Can someone with more info advise? "Dear Passenger, If you are transferring to Ollantaytambo station, we would like to inform you that the Urubamba bridge has collapsed because a truck with 30 tons tried to cross a bridge. Therefore, we recommend you use the alternative route (Pisac) in order to avoid any delays." |
News of 3 days ago said there was no impact for tourist going to MP.
What I understand is that this the bridge at Urubamba town that crosses the river on the way to Chinchero-Cusco. Then, if you are going to Ollantaytambo to take the train to MP, you can not take this route. You must go Cusco-Pisac-Urubamba-Ollantaytambo. It's not a t big delay, probably 30 more minutes than the Cusco-Chincero-Urubamba-Ollantaytambo route. I will research more if there any other updates. |
And this is a cars and trucks bridge so if you are going to MP from Poroy, there is no impact or change at all.

Thanks Villavic! That was quick!
