19% Tax in Peru question
I have heard many different opinions on this question.
As foriegner (USA Passport) do I have to pay this 19% tax on my hotel bills? (JW Marriott, Sheraton Tambo del Inka) Thanks for the quick response. I am here now. BTW - The JW Marriott is GREAT. and the fitness room is one of the best I have used. |
I can only quote those more knowledgeable than myself

No, as a foreigner you will not have to pay that 19% hotel tax. It might still show up on your initial folio but if so they will manually adjust your folio to take the extra 19% off at check-out upon presentation your foreign passport.
I didn't know about the less than 60 days requirement and can't imagine how a hotel would be expected to enforce it anyway (assuming you were in country for > 60 days but not all of them at the same hotel). |
