PDX to STR Advice Request

Hi, new member here. I fly to Germany 10-12 times per year from PDX, historically it was always Delta to AMS and then connecting to KLM. Worked very well for 10 years! Now Delta gave up that route and replacement KLM only flies three days per week, which has yet to sync with my work schedule.

Have used United/Lufthansa to FRA via SFO a few times but nervous about SFO’s weather delays and just wondering if there’s something better.

Looking for educated opinions on best route to Stuttgart from Portland, also open to Frankfurt and Munich options since I can drive to Stuttgart from there. Also willing to consider options from SEA. Major considerations are shortest travel time and reliability of flights not being cancelled.

TIA!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Depending on BA's schedule, PDX-LHR-STR/FRA is a possibility.

Condor flies PDX-FRA seasonally (and maybe not on a daily basis).

I expect that AA, DL, and UA can each get you from PDX to FRA with a single domestic connection.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes, I’m aware of what most of the options are, I was just looking for opinions on what is currently working best for people. I actually flew back STR-LHR-PDX yesterday for the first time. Wasn’t bad, but the T3 to T5 transfer at LHR is a huge pain, and no WiFi installed on the very nice Dreamliner for LHR-PDX. Sorry if I wasn’t more clear.

Any transfer at LHR is a pain, even when you don't have to transfer between terminals. The British don't trust any other country's security screening; this year transfer security between flights at T3, en route from HEL to DFW, took almost an hour and at T5, en route from MAD to LAX, it took longer than 30 minutes. To add insult to injury, even when the boarding pass has the Fast Track indicator they don't offer it for connecting passengers.
