Day Trips From Seattle to See Washingston's Nature

What places near Seattle do you recommend to see the landscape, nature, scenery of the thepacificnorthwest. So far, Vashon Island caught my eye as it has a good view of Mt. Ranier.

Thanks for any other suggestions/recommendations. Especially, if there are seaside high hill/cliff views.

For that specific type of view I’d suggest Whidbey Island (Ebey’s Landing and Deception Pass), San Juan Islands, the Olympic Coast (Second and Shi-Shi beaches), and the Columbia River Gorge.

Vashon Island is definitely nice, and it’s close to the city. But it’s a bit flatter so doesn’t have as many epic cliffs or bluffs. Think more beach/driftwood/rocks. The views of Mt Rainier are good but you can also see Mt Rainier from half the city so you don’t need to go to Vashon specifically for that.

When would this be and how long would you have? Here are some day trips to investigate - google the places on the maps.

North Kitsap - Bainbridge loop - https://goo.gl/maps/5HYNt4EV1HZQEqb99 This includes some scenic viewpoints, picturesque settlements, historic sites and the incomparable Bloedel Reserve gardens.

Whidbey loop - https://goo.gl/maps/eiMQJYSDxh7LYH83A This includes three very picturesque small towns, terrific views and walks including the interesting shore batteries at Fort Casey, and, if available, a tour of the Boeing Everett plant, biggest building in the world.

Snoqualmie Valley and Falls with optional Roslyn/Cle Elum extension - https://goo.gl/maps/iBpqu4sqvALcNB6N8 This includes the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley, the historic original Carnation Farms, spectacular Snoqualmie Falls and a piece of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee at Twede's in North Bend (Twin Peaks references.) It includes an optional transit of Snoqualmie Pass and on to the historic town of Roslyn (famous from another TV show, Northern Exposure) and neighboring scenic Cle Elum Lake. There's decent mountain scenery on either side of Snoqualmie Pass.

Vashon - South Kitsap loop - https://goo.gl/maps/bZ66zWC2UcW63ipC6 This includes Vashon Island (especially the lovely Point Robinson lighthouse) as well as Point Defiance in Tacoma, picturesque Gig Harbor, and a return to Seattle via the Bremerton ferry.

If you're coming later in the summer once the roads are open, a loop of Mount Rainier that includes the Sunrise and Paradise visitor centers, the Grove of the Patriarchs and the Reflection Lakes along the beautiful Stevens Canyon Road, can also be done in a day. Or if you can spend a night away, the ultimate loop that includes Mount Rainier, then south along wonderful US 97 from Yakima to the Columbia River at Maryhill, then through the Columbia Gorge to I-5, then back to Seattle with a possible stop at Johnston Ridge at Mount St. Helens, is a tour de force of some of the Northwest's most iconic sights. Two days is possible, three is ideal. Here's a map of the route. Again, use the google.
