Well when you tell people you were in Seattle, everyone's going to ask if you went to the Space Needle.
You could just say yes or give a long explanation of why you chose to skip the city's iconic sight. Your choice. |

I thought the Space Needle was awesome when I visited it! Of course, I was only seven, and this was during the World's Fair, which was a few years ago now. It may have changed a bit in the meantime.
It's not orange anymore :D Though it was for the recent anniversary. I love riding the monorail as well. It's short, but it's just such a cool little thing. |

I can't imagine someone else's expectations being the reason I would visit a certain location while on vacation (especially someone who isn't traveling with me).

Right on..I was thinking the same...I am still not able to digest what the other 2 posters mentioned...Never has other peoples opinion ever passed my mind nor ever will.
There is nothing wrong in finding that you don't share other people's motivations. Especially in a case like this when considerable monetary expense is involved. But it does seem churlish at best to then come back and make value judgments about others who were only trying to help. |

Otoh, maybe people really don't want to hear about your trips and will take a simple "no" with relief. |
I will be in Seattle area for 7 days next month. Planning to travel to Victoria for a day and sightseeing around Puget Sound and Olympic park. Planning to have 1 or 2 days to see Seattle and was looking for suggestions. I would like to catch the Astros/Mariners on Sunday. My wife wants to see a whale and do not know if I need to book whale watching tour or take my chances on the trip to Victoria. I think the Chilhuly glass is on my list and would like to get some other ideas. TIA

Alternatively, if you're already visiting Olympic National Park, you could go whale watching out of Port Townsend or Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula, or you could take the Coho ferry from PA to Victoria as a day trip - cheaper, faster and way more comfortable than the 3+ hours on the Victoria Clipper from Seattle. https://www.cohoferry.com/ Note there's a great big Seattle-what-to-do thread right at the top of this forum - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/west/...r-s-guide.html |
