Any recommendations for a reasonably priced hotel/motel in Seattle? Friday night in June. I am shocked by the prices I see: $300++

OK some more info: we decided on two nights (Thursday/Friday), will be travelling by car, was hoping to find a hotel between $100-150 per night per double room.
Was able to book decent hotels in Chicago at $150 per night per room, and Salt Lake City for less than $100 per night, so was amazed Seattle is so much more.
We don't need anything fancy: just a clean room and shower at a reasonable location to visit Seattle.

Neither Chicago nor Salt Lake City has several thousand cruise passengers spending the night before or after their Alaska cruises.

At that price point, you're pretty limited to the airport area, accessible to downtown via the light rail, or, depending on your plans before or after Seattle, look at the northern suburbs like Lynnwood, possibly Bellevue/Issaquah, or even Bainbridge Island, where you could travel as foot passengers to the city on the ferry, then walk around once you're here.

Also June is the start of numerous summer events/conventions in the city.

This year one weekend in June is commencementat the Univ of Washington is june 13.

the following weekend the US Open golf turnament is happening at Chambers Bay just south of Tacoma. They have talked about running an express SOunder train from King St Station (downtown/stadium) to the golf course (with posisbly one stop near the airport) that will bring people to/from the tournament.

the first weekend of June is the last weekend of the Seattle Film festival (starts in mid May)

look outside of the immediate downtown core. Generally cruise Passengers are going to stay in the downtown area near the piers within close walking distance.

Look at the airport hotels. there are two light rail stations. One is at the airport and the other is juts north of the airport on the edge of the airport hotel district. There is a comfort inn right across the street from the light rail station so you could use that to get i nto the downtown core.

Another option is staying in the subrubs and commuting into the city.

Thanks for the replies. We managed to book a downtown hotel for $145 / night. Very "average" reviews of that hotel on Tripadvisor, but we mostly value location, location and location when visiting cities.

Decent location, but a motel, not a hotel by any stretch of the imagination. I would say a notch below a Travelodge.

I've done a couple stays at the Fairfield Inn in Bremerton. It's just a 5 min walk from the ferry to Seattle. Right across from it there's a Hampton Inn. Both generally have very good weekend rates and if you're driving you might very well end up in that direction before or after Seattle anyway.

Try booking a place through airbnb.com. Several reasonably priced places for what you are looking for. Search Greenlake, Queen Anne, and Ballard. Seattle has excellent public transportation, Lyft, etc. so you can save $ by not having to park.

We returned home from Seattle today.

I can recommend the King's Inn to everybody! It is basic, but clean, has excellent beds, a good shower, free parking for guests and is very close to downtown and the Space needle area. No need to pay inflated Seattle hotel prices when you can have a decent bed and shower (AND free parking) at less than half the price of other downtown properties.
