Allegiant start TTN & SJU & 2 new routes from LAS

Allegiant adds 2 new city TTN & SJU and also announced 2 new routes from LAS to MCI/OAK, as well.

Frontier won't be happy about Allegiant to start service to TTN. Way too much competition. We will see what happens.

This would also explain F9's switch to PGD from RSW, which moves in on Allegaint's turf.

I would still like service by a legacy carrier from TTN to a hub - perhaps Delta to DTW, since DL does not have a hub at either PHL or EWR. And an E-190 could make Detroit even taking off on TTN's short runway.

I also see that G4 is saying they will use A 320s (ceo not neo) on the TTN routes. I thought that the 6000' runway was too short for them with an A320, which was why I thought F9 was using the A319.

Looks like another new route CVG-SJU. This route will begin on Saturday December 17, 2016 to April 22, 2017. Only once-a-week.

Both United and USAirways have tried this in the past and could not make it work. Apparently only the Ultra Low Cost Carriers have the pricing to be successful in this market.

And also, Delta who tried this in the past and it didn't workout so well. Way too much competition and too expensive!!

Delta tried TTN in the past, but that was before F9 showed this to be a viable airport.

I think an E-190, E-195 or CS-100 could now be viable at TTN. DL has its regional partner fly from SWF, a similar distance, with much fewer people in its catchment area, and it seems to work.

Actually, they already have E175 or E170, but not CRJ or CS100.

Right, DL did tried this in the past, and it didn't workout so well.

Since I don't know how to start a thread, I will pick up with this one:

Starting in March, F9 is switching its flights out of TTN from A319s to A320s and A320neos. I know that G4 uses A320s on similar routes. Apparently, they are filling most of these flights to the max, and need the additional seats.

Will the -neo allow F9 to do longer routes out of TTN? I don't know how far you can fly one of those planes on a 6006' runway.

Would still like to see a legacy carrier connect from TTN to a hub -- DL seems like the logical choice, since AA and UA have hubs at PHL and EWR respectively. Maybe a couple of E-190s a day to DTW?
