Comparison to GF
Their program is somewhat similar to GF's, the previous FF scheme for OmanAir. I think it is good to start with a comparison to that program.
Some positive differences: - 100% credits for the family programme vs. GF's 70% - no silly "redemption units" (blocks of 3,000 miles) that GF likes to use - Gold members can book rewards same day vs. GF which for some reason requires 24 hours on something that is issued instantly. - Flight awards can be gifted vs. GF which requires them to be on your family list. - GF is an earning partner (this is why I will probably continue to use the GF program - I get similar benefits as Gold with GF also in Muscat). Negatives: - It is stated on the website that transactions will be credited to your account on a monthly basis. This is sad, if true. - Website seems to still be a bit basic without complete information about redemption rates, etc. (I almost suspect that former guy doing the GF site must have taken on this job) - Even after signing up and going to the members' area the feature richness did not improve - No online e-ticketing of redemption tickets. Redemptions have to be done on the phone at picked up at a ticketing office. - Very few partners - No status sliding down to Silver for one year, should you fail to requalify for gold - Not a very attractive program unless based in Muscat to get access to benefits |
