Perhaps they found an A300 freight version and convert it into a passenger plane - but why would you do that - there ara much more fuel efficient planes around these days - on the other hand side - why does SV hav to care about fuel consuption
And even then, which A300 on this planet is configured with a 3-3-3 economy class when all the A300s currently in service have a 2-3-2 configuration. Truly a mystery.

Not you being rebooked on QR not. My ordeal continues - the route via the complaint form suggested a few days ago by an agent I could reach by phone yielded in the obvious way out for the agent handling this- "sorry, we cannot do here anything, call our call centre". In meetings now and will try tomorrow the German office at the German channel....

This one was. But long out of the fleet (and Monarch being bankrupt anyway). A300s have the same cross sections A330s and high density carriers like Air Asia cramp in 9 abreast. Cebu tops it with over 400 seats in a A330-300

According to this Wiki page indeed only Iranian airlines have still non-cargo A300s (or would the 5 owned by Airbus still be passenger planes?). If you click through, non of them have an all-Y configuration....Does someone know another page that lists flying passenger A300? Last production was in 2007 so you would fly a plane of at least 26 years old....

Nice spot. Very likely. Maybe SV leases more Wamos planes. This Wamos air EC NTY was at some point Air Asia and that is 9 abreast. But Air Asia also had a very small 2 row = 12 seat business class. So the SV website erroneously indicates an A300 where it is likely a Wamos leased A330.

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/ec-nty

For the full Wamos Air fleet see below. Various all-Y planes with so many seats this is likely 9 abreast, some with the Air Asia configuration where they have 12 business class angled lie flat and 365 Y seats.

And this one gives another clue that the A330 leases are likely the solution of the riddle what plane will fly TUN-JED this Summer (unfortunately behind paywall)

https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/n...long-term-deal

And this seat map simply comes so close to what I now see on the SV website for the flight...
https://seatmaps.com/airlines/eb-wamos-air/airbus-a330/

See also this for the EC-NHM. Important to know which WAMOS plane is wet leased since their A330s have quite different configurations (some with J and Y, some with 8 and some with 9 abreast Y). At least we now know quite certain the flight will not be done by a 30 year old wreck, but being downgraded to a 9 abreast A330 seating when you had J is of course a disaster.

Interesting research! What on earth is this seat plan? It is from checkmytrip with my previous reservation.

If SV hired a Wamos plane, it is likely the A330-200 EC-MAJ or the A330 EC-NHM. But then to make things complex, on their website Wamos have the same plane with different configurations (click on the 3 lines - our fleet and select aircraft).

No...again relegated to their website by their call centre. They carefully helped me to find the right spot, i.e. flight bookings -> flight cancellations. At least got a mail it is in process Monday or Tuesday but it takes long. Since I am flat out with trying to beat a throat infection this week, will save my energy for calling again if needs be till next week. In all honesty, the treatment you people had is a fairytale - a 1000 Euro J ticket converted into something that is priced 4000 or so at QR and TK. But then they should not offer such tickets in the first place. Being relegated from J to 9 abreast Y is extreme. It is not an error (or if it is, they persist with it). As others noted, the exact same fare TUN-Asia is again bookable from September or so. So significant compensation or rebooking is certainly a reasonable question.

Certainly will report back where I ended.

I sent Saudia a text message on WhatsApp and they called back a few hours later. They offered to rebook my original KUL-JED-TUN to KUL-DXB-TUN.on EK on the same day, albeit with a 02:25 departure from KUL. They wouldn't rebook to Europe without repricing. I'll have a longer wait in TUN for my positioning flight but I've booked a night at the Marriott near the airport for 10,000 points which seems a pretty good deal. I can manage my booking on the EK website with the original Saudia booking reference to choose seats etc. None of my recent Saudia flights have automatically credited to Flying Blue so I expect to retro-claim and ask for original routing credit. Let's see what happens with that.

Amazing. I tried chat, messenger and so on. All the time - we cannot help you via chat (etc.), you need to call. The only thing I did not try is Whatsapp and text (somehow calling via Whatsapp does not work). An issue could be that the inventory QR, TK and EK have for 'mutual' help is limited (compare seats booked with ff points). To understand what you did precisely - you sent an app to this +966 call centre number?

Yes +966 920022222. Sometimes WhatsApp call worked but often it didn't. Texting lets you enter the same menu options as calling. I also left a message with my preferred rebooking option. They weren't quick to call back but eventually they did so.
