Minimum Transfer Time on Kenya Airways in Nairobi

I'm flying from London to Nairobi with Kenya Airways. We arrive at 5am and want to fly on to Mombassa. Kenya Airways say we can't add the extra sector on to our booking and nor will they through check our bags. They also have not responded when I asked them for minimum transfer time.

Any ideas? Am I safe to get the 8am (Kenya Airways) departure to Mombassa?

In theory, there should not be any problem. Domestic terminal is less than 10 min walk (for elderly/people with difficulty). The deadline for re-checking in to Mombasa in 7:30.

Also you cannot thru check your bags as you have to clear customs in Nairobi.

Out of interest, would this also be the case if we had a through ticket on one PNR?

Correct, you must clear immigration and customs at your first international port of call in Kenya.

Good to know. If everybody needs to do it then we are not at any disadvantage. Kenya Airways sells this as a through ticket so clearly they think it is fine. Frustrating that they would not tell me this themselves. They did respond to another question (but not this one).
