Help with ET507 EZE-GRU

A friend is trying to get from Argentina to USA.

US Embassy in Argentina was encouraging all US Citizens who wanted to leave the country to take ET507 this Saturday, April 11 and connect to one of the flights from GRU to US on a separate ticket (United for example).

ET segments GRU-EZE-GRU just got cancelled one day before departure. Anyone has any insight why it was cancelled? Was it because of light load or because they did not get paperwork to fly to EZE? I assumed if US Embassy was encouraging people to take certain flight, there was some sort of arrangement in place?

We rebooked friend on next Saturday, but it's not clear if it will be operating either.

No insight into the cancellation, other than I see the embassy also announced it on their twitter feed:

Was obviously a last minute cancellation.
Your friend should get in touch with the US Embassy as they are actively looking into options for further repatriation flights. Ensure your friend is enrolled in STEP at step.state.gov so that they can get updates directly from the embassy and be informed when the next repatriation flight will happen. They've been able to get about 1,500 Americans back home on separate repatriation flights so far.
