Ethiopian Airlines flying direct from ADD to BLR

Delighted to see a new direct route from Addis Ababa to Bengaluru in South India. i have travelled often with Ethiopian to India in the last couple of years and have loved it. Their business class is very good and i am one happy traveller as the ticket is paid for by my company. i couldnt afford that on my own. I have a request. I note the aircraft from ADD to BLR is the 737. These planes are among the oldest in the Ethiopian fleet and everything inside is shoddy and seems to be falling apart. i have used these planes on the ADD to Delhi route. For Bangalore its a six and a half hour flight each way and the 737 has only recliner seats. I dont know if this can be classified as short haul. Forget TV screens and the like. Come on Ethiopian. Give us a newer aircraft for this route. You will have many happy passengers instead of disappointed ones. Would be very glad if you could change the type of aircraft used. Thank you.

Any idea what market ET is targeting with this flight? I imagine O&D traffic won't fill up very much of the plane, so is ET expecting lots of traffic from BLR to other parts of Africa? The timing also works out well for connecting to ET's flight to GRU.

Yeah I'm curious as to who the target market is here....for pax looking to get to/from BLR and N. America, Emirates, Qatar or Lufthansa would be clear superior options (DXB, DOH, MUC and even FRA are much better hubs than ADD). So if it's not N. America pax, then is there really that much BLR-Africa traffic?

I second the comments about the 737. ET's 767 to/from Delhi is awful too (at least in Economy). I love the ET A350s and 787s though.

Is it really 6.5 hours to Addis from Bangalore? It's about 4:30 from Mumbai ........ I agree, i hope they use one of their modern aircrafts, though.....

Flew the 350 from Mumbai recently - very good in J. Even better than EK in J where they have an unacceptable 2-3-2 configuration on their 777s.........

I would think there is quite a bit of traffic to other parts of Africa and ET is a good alternate to the ME3 to get to Southern Africa. Let's bear in mind, there isn't a direct flight from India to South Africa at the moment.

Huh maybe ET just adds lots of buffer time?

I get that there's significant demand from India to much of Africa, but didn't know BLR had a lot. I think the BOM area has a significant diaspora in East Africa and DEL is a much larger market, so ET serves those well. I've always viewed BLR as primarily having demand for travel to North America (and SFO in particular for tech), which can explain (including routes starting soon) the up to 4 daily EK 777s, LH 748 and 359, BA 35K, KL 781, 2 SQ 359s, JL 788, etc.

Or, looking at connections to GRU, maybe ET is just hoping for a little bit of everything (some O&D, some traffic to East Africa, some to South Africa, some to other parts, some to South America, etc.)
