Layover ADD
Decided to try Ethiopian for the first time and as a result of them cancelling a flight between ADD-EBB this weekend (which I only found out about while happening to check my itinerary) I now have a nine-hour layover at Addis. Any suggestions for killing time? Which of the lounges is the best?

The lounges are fairly dismal, you won't want to spend 9 hours there. Depending on your ticket you'll only have access to one lounge, either the *G one if in Economy or the Business class one if in business.
A far more attractive option is using their stopover program, this is for any layovers more than 8 hours (officially only if there's not an earlier flight to your destination, but I've used it when I've intentionally not taken the flights with the shortest layover). They'll issue you a hotel voucher which is also your visa exemption at immigration. You can drop your stuff in the room and explore the city a bit if you don't feel like sleeping. Addis is a cool city, but depending on the time of day you're there, there might not be a ton of stuff to do, if nothing else you can get a nice Ethiopian meal. It's generally quite safe, just use normal precautions, I was pick pocketed once by some kids in front of the Red Terror museum, they seem to hang out there since it's one of the more popular tourist attractions. |
Thanks!
