Royal Air Maroc - AT to join oneworld mid-2022
RAM will be the first African airline to fully join oneworld alliance, and the first new airline to fully join in four years. This will expand oneworld’s reach into north and west Africa particularly, and offer benefits to those also flying AA, AY, BA, IB, QR, S7, etc. and add some good award and earning routes for Safar Flyer members.
See this post in the oneworld forum, and here for the RAM route network map.

what a joke this is
of all the candidates mentioned to join OW, Air Maroc is the most useless IMO
all this talk of Qatar quitting oneworld and now this less than illustrious carrier being added

I find this a very welcome addition. Perhaps AA would allow CMN connections on NA-EU awards. North Africa itself is a worthy destination as well.
The only disappointment in this announcement is having to wait 2 yrs for the integration to be fully implemented.
(the thread title should have the target date corrected to mid-2020)

I don't know about that. Morocco has been a booming tourist destination for the last few years, and they've been expanding their North American routes (and buying some spiffy new planes in the process). Personally I'm a DL/B6 guy, so OW doesn't mean much to me, but I would have loved to have RAM join SkyTeam.

I've flown AT quite a lot between Europe and CMN. Almost always in business class and they were far and away better than AF, BA, KL, LH, LX, IB and all the rest. I've not flown them further south into Africa, but I can't believe it would be significantly different. They have standards. Unless the complaints are about aircraft technical delays. That would be more likely in sub-saharan African than Europe.

Hi FTers,
thought I would ask this here, we are doing a paid J flight in Royal Air Maroc in a few days. What is the best place to credit these flights? I'm OW Emerald given my EXP status, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't make any difference at this point.
should we create a Royal Air Maroc account and credit there?
should we credit to Etihad or Iberia?
or something else entirely that I might not have thought of?
thanks in advance for any guidance!

Check Etihad redemption partners to decide if you could use any in the future -->

IB/BA also have a few sweet spots for redemption.
Both options can be combined with transfers from CC points, which can make them useful without waiting for additional flight credits.

It’s becoming a full-fledged Oneworld airline at some point in March of this year.
The airline’s frequent flyer program Safar allows up to twelve family members to pool their miles together. That should make “saffarring” on miles a lot easier for families who fly Oneworld carriers a lot. I’m looking forward to another such option beside the BA household account approach.

AT currently has 40% off on award bookings, through January 6th. I wonder if that sort of thing could continue under OW?
