No Etihad Guest miles on EY006 when booked as LH codeshare?
 

Dear fellow travelers,

here's my situation, back in September I flew CGN-MUC-AUH with the first flight operated by LH and the second one (EY006) operated by EY. The flight was booked on LH ticket stock using the LH code 9659 for MUC-AUC. Usually, I'm booking this flight on EY stock, but this time around, I was traveling back from RUH on LH, so our corporate travel agent chose to book the codeshare instead. I'm aware that in order to collect M&M miles, the operating carrier counts (so no milages accrual for LH M&M), so I made sure that my Etihad Guest miles number was added for the second segment. However, no miles were posted. When I wrote to Etihad Guest later, I received the following response:

So, in essence I cannot earn any miles for this flight, no for LH M&M (as it is EY metal) and not on Etihad Guest as the flight was booked under the LH code. Is that really the case? In my view, this devalues the codeshare arrangement quite a bit. Or am I missing something?

That sounds like an automated reply that they used to reply to your codeshare question without fully understanding the question. Call them up.

Thanks for the advise, I will do that. However, the email does show my full itinerary and the ticket number, so it seems somebody has at least looked at it.
