OLCI and turnaround on KQ at ADD feasible?
 

Is it possible to OLCI for KQ flights departing from ADD?

I am toying with the idea of doing a turnaround on KQ there. During the relevant period, KQ has two daily rotations between NBO and ADD. One flight arrives in ADD at 1.55am and departs at 3.30am (so Ih35 for the turnaround). The other one arrives in ADD at 9.05am and departs at 9.55am (a more scary 50 mins for the turnaround). .

The night flight timings make a turnaround even without OLCI theoretically feasible if there are no massive delays as KQ minimum check-in times when traveling HBO is 45 minutes. Clearly, it would be more reassuring if OLCI is possible (if only to address the issue of potential delays) but if OLCI is not available, would it be madness to attempt it?

Yes OLCI is possible.
I've booked a cheap ADD-NBO-AMS-MXP return trip in J but i've played the safe side with arriving at 2 am and departing at 9 am :)

Thanks for the info. I might follow in your footsteps and play it safe, even though the prospect of an allnighter at the airport feels me with a certain amount of trepidation.

Unlike yourself, i'll have a luggage on the hold that's the main reason!
Also in some airports in central Africa, Immigration officers stamps the boarding pass to prove you have officially exited the country, I don' t know if this is the case at ADD. Flights are in December and I can check this point for you!
However 1h30 should be doable in your situation if everything goes well :)

I've done airside transit at ADD connecting onto KQ (although not a straight turnaround) probably 3-4 years ago. OLCI didn't work for me, but I went to the Ethiopian transit desk (they were the ground handlers for KQ) and they took care of things.

Just grab one of the KQ staff at the aircraft as soon as you arrive and tell them you are connecting back on the same plane. They will sort you out.
