Exclamation [OMAN AIR] Flight delayed/cancelled not a single a update from them

Hello,
We are in Manilla on our way back to Europe.
Our 7:45 am flight on 18th of august is cancelled or delayed, they aren't able to provide any details.
We got not a single update from them, i call the local office rather often and they always say : we will call you with an update, it's now 12 hours it's not nothing and not a single update.
On flight tracker i can see there is the plane in the airport, but still not a word from Oman.

We fly business and i need help, does someone had an issue and have a direct contact number to someone who can help us ? I called twice the call center and i have been told : "A representative will call you back today" they told me that twice but so far not a single update.

Really they make us live a nightmare, we just want to know where we are going, if the flight will be tomorrow or in two days .... but we have to know to make our plans.

So if someone can help i would be very glad.

Thank you

According to the WY site, WY844 is scheduled to depart at 00:15 Monday 20 August

Whilst the lack of communication is negligent and I doubt anyone on this forum can speak for Oman, the root cause of this delay is not likely to be Oman's fault. A Xiamen plane experienced a crash landing at Manilla earlier this week, fortunately it appears there were no casualties despite it being a serious incident.

This has resulted in the runway at Manilla being closed for 36 hours and thousands of crew, planes and passengers being disrupted throughout the region. I can't comment on the specifics of the delay for Oman but with a 36 hour closure of a major international airport plus inbound aircraft inflight being diverted elsewhere from MNL and planes trapped on the ground at MNL many airlines and the airport operations team will be doing their best to try to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible for all concerned.

Whilst the delay and lack of communication must be frustrating, a sense of perspective would clearly be useful here, and for all involved in the Xiamen incident must be truly grateful to have escaped with their lives.

For a very technical write up on the incident plus some pics see Accident: Xiamen B738 at Manila on Aug 16th 2018, runway excursion on landing

Hello thank you for your message,
I will follow up with my experience, actually the worst part wasn't in Manilla but in Muscat.
We had to wait 3 hours sitting on the floor at the transfer counter once we arrived, then they sent us to the lounge where we wait 8 hours, they have been lying to us again and again we alsmost got arrested as they put us in the immagration area without boarding pass and finally they sent us a tp our hotel at 3am whereas we landed at 3 pm it's now 6 am and we are back at the airport to finally fix it out after less than 2 hours sleep.

It was a complete nightmare, we are so exhausted, we got no support at all from Oman Air.

I will provide more details once we get a nap, cause we are literraly dead.

We will get a flight on QR to go back home.

We were on the PR526 on 17th of August, it has been derouted to Iloilo we waited almost 5 hours on the ground at Iloilo airport before the autorities allow us to unboard. Then we went through immigration and we have been put in a conference room with only 20 chairs. My GF and i slept on the floor or we tried. Then we have been able to go back to manilla with 11 hours delay and the funniest part was that we have to go through immigration again ... really the end of our trip was really chaotic.

So just to give you a bit of context, the worst for me wasn't to wait in Iloilo it was clearly at Muscat airport. When we checked in at Manilla we have been told : No worries at the gate someone will wait for you, and help you with the transfer. We are in business class and it's Oman Air hub so we were very confident and we expected something very smooth. When we arrived noone was here at the gate, we ran to the transfer counter and they literraly laught at us. Nothing was prepared, after waiting 3 hours on the floor and being told that we will be on the next flight to London, (which was a lie as i checked on Seat Alert and it was full what they will confirm 5 hours later) they sent us to the Lounge. Then i was checking again and again the situation with the representative, he told me it's ongoing we will let you know, and that during 4 hours. Then i told him we want an hotel room i explained what happened with PR526 2 days before, then the WY844 delayed by 27 hours and the minimum we could expect is an hotel room. He told me "Go have a nap in our nap room in the lounge, i manage everything for you".... what a liar, i woke up 1 or 2 hours after it was midnight (remember we landed at 3:30pm) and he told me he has no update, he sent someone to the police to get a paper to go to the transfer counter. At this time we didn't understand, but we followed a very helpfull guy. To go back to the transfer desk he had a chat with a Police man who told him it's not possible. He asked us to wait here. We wait half and hour and two ladies from the airport told us we can't stay here. I explained we are waiting for our boarding pass, then she started to tell us it's illegal to be here without a boarding pass, they wanted to call an agent, hopefully our escort came back and we were able to go back to the transfer counter we were very surprised to see that noone was here, i mean we left 200 Y PAX when we went to the lounge and apparently they manage to get their hotel room quicker than us. Once at the counter it took 2 hours to manage things, the people from Oman were talking in arabe in from of us and laughing we were completly lost and we didn't know what happened. Finally at 2 am we have been escorted through the immigration, collect our luggage and brough to the driver for the hotel (btw the hotel is a joke compared with what QR provide). At the hotel we had a 2 hours nap before to go back to the airport, to double check that everything was ok and get our boarding pass.

In the end our escort was so helpfull, just wondering why we met him 10 hours after waiting at the airport and not straight after landing, furthermore we where only 8 people in business class in this situation, a group of 6 and us, so not a big deal.

It's true the hard product is really good, the soft average to me but the ground is a real nightmare, to be honnest i would not recommend you to use Oman air.

Avoid Oman Air at all cost,
You won't get any support for a 27 hours delay ... no accomodation.
The worst once you miss your connection you'll be treated like a .....

Yeah, I think we get your point now. You seem very upset so for your own sake maybe it is time to put this behind you and move on. This was a single incident caused by the unfortunate Xiamen Airline incident at MNL.

You can read horror stories during IRROPS for every airline, but certain airlines are especially poor when it comes to things not going to plan and I'd rank OmanAir as up there, along with many of the Chinese carriers and the low cost carriers in Asia.
I lived in Oman and learn't very quickly that when things aren't going to plan to expect a long wait and a lot of people to get involved to eventually find a simple solution.

Can't agree more. My recent experience at MCT fully reflected this. Signage isn't clear and low efficiency in general.
