Royal Jordan / Alitalia separate tickets
I have an award ticket AMM-FCO. If I buy a separate ticket FCO-CTA, what are the chances that RJ will tag my bags all the way? RJ and Alitalia have a codeshare agreement.

I don't the answer to your question, but I think the bigger issue you may face is leaving enough time to 'self-connect' which includes going landside, retrieving luggage, and then checking in again. I'm sure you know the consequences of not presenting yourself for the first flight of a ticket.
