It is a matter of national pride. But as long as the airline can limp along until the oil starts flowing out of Uganda, then they will have enough cash to keep it going for a long time. IMHO.

Uganda has received two CRJ's 900's today, to much pomp and circumstance.
The president said something interesting...
"Uganda is moving forward and we are unstoppable. (...) But in the airlines business, I still believe in an East African Airlines. One reason I took long to revive the airlines was that I thought we [East Africa] could share airlines."

Anyone knows which are the 7 routes that have been secured by Uganda Airlines?
The first A330-800neo is expected to arrive in the country in December 2020, and the second in January 2021.

They announced a while ago Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilimanjaro, Bujumbura, Juba, Dar-Es-Salam and Mogadishu. Starting July 2019. I saw some officials were in Mogadishu recently formalizing things and doing extended security reviews.

Did they get the AOC? Earlier in June, they were really uncertain to start ops this month, Will it be in 2019 or 2020?

IIRC, A few day after they officially welcomed the CRJs at Entebbe, the plane(s) was(were) sent to various African countries (or destinations?), incl Cape Town & Jo'burg.
Not sure why as I did not pay to much attention on that at this time though...
