ET--ADD to LAX thru DUB in J--still angled recline?
My proposed itinerary is JNB to LAX, which means I would be flying JNB to ADD, where I would transfer to the ADD-DUB-LAX flight, which is on a 787. Past reviews (most recent being 2016) show these as angled recline seats, and so says SeatGuru. I'm wondering if this is still true. Why the heck are they flying that 10 hr DUB to LAX flight with angled recline seats?
Otherwise, I think I will fly the ADD-IAD total lieflat on the A350.
My other option is Swiss to ZRH and then AC to Toronto. Problem is, I need to get home to Guadalajara, and LAX is the absolute best place to catch a connection.
Using Lifemiles so I am really restricted.

A significant portion of ET's 787 seat is angled flat, LAX doesn't get a specific configuration, you could get either. Sounds like if IAD gets the A350, that's the way to go.
UA serves GDL from IAH, that seems more of a logical connection point to me since you can put it on your award ticket. Also TK serves IAH so could be a possibility.

Ethiopian Best Business Class Seats?
Right now, there are 29 of 41 longhaul aircraft configured with flat beds, including 50% of the 787s (10/20 - 9 787-800s and 1 787-900). However, the LAX route is highly unlikely to be operated by the ET-AT* subfleet which have flat beds due to higher gross weight of these airframes (although they have been used to LAX twice in the past year when loads were low). Therefore, the likelihood of getting a flat bed equipped aircraft on the LAX route is actually only 23% (3/13 - ET-ASG/H/I)
Personally, I find the angled seats on the 787s more comfortable than the flat beds on the A350 but thats a matter of personal preference. The most comfortable seats in the fleet IMHO are the flat beds on the 777s.

Thanks, both.
Trying to get TK to IAH (from JNB) but availability is zero. There is availability to ORD but that is only the IST leg, nothing from JNB. UA is E only, no J available.
Another option is Swiss & AC to Toronto, or Swiss all the way to ORD.
Just can't find anything TATL to IAH!
