Planned to fly Accra (ACC) to Cotonou, Benin (COO) via Lagos, Nigeria (LOS) on Jan 7 at 8 am. Flight delayed, delayed, no announcements, airport staff and gate staff don't have any information, flight is delayed from Dakar, no, flight is delayed from Lagos, just be patient, it will definitely depart by noon, go have a coffee, flight delayed again, we have no information...etc. eventually, flight cancelled and the 2pm flight was also cancelled. Connecting flight to Cotonou was supposedly still on the ground in Lagos, but no one knew for sure. Flight to Lagos finally took off after 8pm and after 6 extremely angry young men from Luanda were physically kicked off the flight when they refused to deplane. They were trying to get to Libreville and had spent 9 days sleeping in the Lagos airport due to Arik cancellations. for the 20 or so people who had not cancelled their tickets and booked on MedView or another local carrier, the flight was uneventful. however, the plane was in tatters and filthy with stains on seats and trash on the floor. 13 hour delay with never any information about why or any effort to help people with connections. many fellow travelers had been trying to get to their destinations for over a week. Never, never, never flying this carrier again. Interesting note: one friendly PAX was a pilot (former US army) and said the reason ARIK cancels the day flights is to fly at night when less fuel is expended; it's a cost-saving measure.
