EgyptAir MS 804 on 5/19/16, Paris to Cairo, Missing

Egyptair just posted on their Twitter that MS804 performing CDG to CAI has been reported missing from radar and that the situation will be updated when possible.

Just got the CNN blurb on my phone as well. FR24 has it last reported over the Med: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/f...ms804/#9c0b766

Indeed, especially with reports of an Egyptair mechanic being involved in 9268. Early to speculate anything and hopefully nothing more than a glitch. Thoughts with passengers and family.

Keep our fingers crossed....

You can view the planefinder.net playback of the flight.

The flight appears to just vanish shortly after flying close to Crete and leaving Greek airspace.

CNN in the USA is focusing on it now. They've called up their usual aviation team.

From some sources:

Airbus A320-232 equipment.

"The plane was at 37,000 ft and disappeared 80 miles (around 10 minutes) before entering Egyptian airspace."

Can't lie, getting some cold feet about my trip to Egypt in a month.

Doc Savage May 18, 16 9:41 pm

Wonder when it should run out of fuel?

Prepare for 24/7 coverage even with no new information.

Now they're saying that it was ten miles inside Egyptian airspace (over the Mediterranean Sea) when it "disappeared." It was neither ascending nor descending at the time.

An expert is suggesting from the data that there was a security breach and midair explosion.

ADDED: It left Paris around 11 pm local time. Contact was lost about twenty minutes before the expected landing time at Cairo. It's now been missing about three hours.

Let's just hope.
