Thanks for the info, will track with expert flyer to see how many seats are available and start at the bottom. Will they tell you if you have been outbid or will you just miss out? I also booked the two seats beside me just in case. Is itnposible to increase your bid if they do tell you? Thanks again

I've only won, so I don't know what they tell or not tell, but with other airlines I know it's just a "Sorry" about 6 hours before departure.

Hey all, another data point for the upgrade auction. Bid LHR-ADD the other day (a350 Safran Optima), USD730 accepted T-24h.
Have been told repeatedly by A3 since, however, that they won't credit miles to my M+B account as I flew in Z on ET (a non earning fc) despite booking in K, would be interested to hear others' experience crediting miles to *A programs following a successful upgrade!

I have another question. There is another section in the app where instead of the bid it gives upgrade offers that you can book immediately and you get it secured.
my question is: are these real upgrades in that you get upgrades to class C, D, J, etc meaning you get business class miles with Miles & Bonus?

I've been bidding on an upcoming flt, but i keep getting outbid and now the price is out of my range. I checked expertflyer and only 1/3 of the business class seat are taken. The flt leaves in 2 weeks. Question is, should i just leave the bid as where it is even though I'm not in first place. Will i still get a win coming in second? Or will they just leave the seats empty and deny the upgrade?

I think you're falling for the game aspect of this. You are probably bidding against yourself. Stick with the lowest bid price allowed and in 99% of the cases, you will get the upgrade if seats are available.

Any experiences from the ATL-ADD route upgrade offers? Looks like I will be headed to LUN and that 14.5 hour in Y isn't looking too exciting. Cash price is still around $8K for the RT in Business versus $1.6K in Y.
Side note Ethiopian is taking on surcharges of nearly 75% of the fare cost for me on this route in Y.
Adult x 1 $872
Surcharges $620
Taxes and Fees $120
