SA priority boarding
SA has introduced priority boarding for elites and business class pax as a stated benefit.
My first experience of this was in JNB. We left the lounge at the first call (were literally on our way out when the call was made) and arrived at international gate5 to join the end of a massive queue. Went to investigate if there was a special queue for priority boarding but nothing was signposted. Only one person processing pax. When we got closer to the front (literally half an hour later) I managed to finally get the attention of the officious gent who was controlling the queue (and at one point called for UK pax to go forward!) and asked why there was no priority boarding. He insisted he had called priority pax many times. But as everyone around me confirmed not since we joined the queue. Since most priority pax would have been in the lounge this was rather missed pointless. :td: Returning from LHR we arrived from the lounge at the gate that had 2 agents processing pax and a dedicated priority lane (helping pax from the other lane whenever there was no one in the priority lane). Perfect execution. ^ |
Very annoying, should be so simple to implement.
Really its no rocket science. I personally hate the term "Priority Boarding" it should be left hand counter Row 1-7 on left side and "other" on right hand side (a340-600). There are too many silver, golds, plats and nedbank premium and gold cards to make room for everyone with some sort of status somewhere. |
So priority boarding is called. You then board a bus. You then wait. Then all the other passengers board the same bus. Then it is a free for all when you do actually board:rolleyes:
