SAA pay in upgrade
 

A travel agent has booked my sister in T class to Hong Kong. There are Voyager upgrades available on her flight but T class is not upgradeable.

Can we pay in to upgrade the fare class to a higher fare that is upgradeable? The flight shows:
Y9 B9 M9 K9 H9 S9 Q9 T9 V9 L9 W9 G9 available

If so which is the cheapest fare we can upgrade to that is upgradeable?

If not can we pay in for a J class?

You can upgrade from Y, B, M & K. And K class is very reasonabaly priced to HKG. Many fares do waive penalties if you book into a higher class but I have no idea about the flexibility of T class - best to call the TA I should think.

Certainly worth exploring the options for these 13 hour flights!

So SAA were happy to upgrade to any class without penalities, K being the most reasonable fare with Voyager upgrade.

Problem is Travel agent messed up fare basis and combined fares with other airlines on the same ticket. Long story short dont use a travel agent.
