Ramada?!?!
 

Howdy,

I will end up in a Ramada soon...grrr...can't help it - long story.

Anyway - question is - is there anything I can get out of their reward program? Is there any point in pursuing it?

I too have been blessed with several Ramada stays in the past few years. They have mostly been nasty places, and I wouldn't even bother signing up because I would never stay there if it were my choice!
Hopefully it's not in Nashville or Novi!

Same here (two stays too many). I try to keep my distance...

My condolences, Pakse. I've had two Ramada stays: both big-city stays when the rest of the city was sold-out.

One was in a bad neighborhood in San Francisco - a long way from any of the downtown spots one would normally stay, but I think it still had an actual SF address. The place was a complete dump. Makes your local Motel 6 look like the Ritz.

The other was in New York City - on the west side of Times Square back before Times Square went and got all cleaned up. It was a block that had a Ramada Inn and 217 adult bookstores. The room was TINY, but it was $119/night on a weekend when I couldn't find any room at any price anywhere else. Still, we managed to put four people in that room - two on twin beds and two on the floor. Made for a fun story. Nobody in the hotel spoke any English, so I didn't even think about asking for frequent-flyer miles. We had to valet park because there was no other option and, strangely enough, we actually got the car back when we left!!

You never know your luck. I stayed at one in Virginia Beach that looked like a dump, but the room facilities worked and the staff were nice and very efficient, which is more than I can say for many classier places I've stayed at.

I used points to stay at the Ramada in VA Beach. This is by far the best Ramada anywhere. It is also the only one I'd ever bother returning to. When we extened our stay one day, they gave me the corporate rate for the extra day. The room was clean and recently re-done, and had none of the normal Ramada funk you'd see elsewhere. The resteraunt downstairs (Mahi Mahi's if I remember) was great too.

The Ramada I stayed at near BNA was grim (but cleanish & cheap). The Ramada Gaslamp in San Diego is old and pretty cool (fun neighborhood too); the staff are pretty curt, and don't seem to like redeeming any discount offers.

I have heard that Ramada's program will be rolled into a frequent customer program common to all the parent company's brands. This could only be an improvement on Club Ramada!

In July 2001 I stayed alone at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Downtown Windsor, Ontario. My friend Beverly & her husband also love to stay here because of the Crazy Horse karaoke bar across the street, which has recently changed name & format. It gave me 500 AC Aeropesos for a one-night stay--standard policy of Canadian Ramadas back then. Nice hotel, but less fancy than the Casino Windsor Hotel.
The Ramada Inn Fort Meyers Beach in Florida is one of the better & most centrally located hotels there.

I would just as soon stay at Super 8 or Motel 6 than a Ramada. I also watch out for other chains (like Starwood or Holiday Inn) that have acquired Ramada properties. Until I get word from someone with firsthand experience that the re-flagged property has undergone major improvements, I avoid those too.
