Sonesta group hotels
Traveling once more post-Covid, and discover that some of my regular Marriott Courtyards have been bought up by Sonesta. Does anyone have any experience with this chain, and the merits of otherwise of its loyalty program?

Sonesta also got a block of IHG properties. The Sonesta properties in former Marriott and former IHG properties are owned by Hospitality Properties Trust and that owner has an ownership interest in Sonesta so they reassigned the operating agreements for these properties they owned to Sonesta from Marriott/IHG. Sonesta got some decent properties and many rather tired properties out of the Marriott/IHG deal for managing the properties. Then they bought Red Lion/America's Best Value Inn group network, but I don't think that impacts the stuff with the Sonesta branding, they obviously aren't running those but just running a reservations network and taking royalties. |

Read recent reviews and decide if it is still okay at those properties you like.

I'll be trying some of them out next month, since their locations are very convenient for me. I looked for reviews of the rebranded hotels and didn't find much, so thought I'd ask here.
I would make the above suggestion for any hotel, any brands. I got burned bad by a HGI with few recent reviews and 4.5/5 all over historically as I failed to look at recent reviews. The stay was one of my worst, no sleep, filthy room, awful service, no management on site who would take responsibility for anything. |
