problem with combining hotels.com gift card
 

The balance transfer tool on hotels.com has not been working for a long time. I called today to combine the balance of my gift cards. They want to know the activation date. I don't have that information with me. They would not transfer the balance without that information. Anybody has the same issue?

So I've had to call in for a few transfers (the website is not correct. It should not be stating the tool is down right now. They just permanently disabled the transfer tool). What you need is the original amount. The date doesn't seem as important.
It seems they are trying to cut down on giftcard fraud.
