Kimpton losing more hotels in San Francisco

The Harbor Court (SF) and Monaco (SF) both dropped off Kimpton's website, following the loss of the Cypress and Serrano recently.

This is especially surprising given that the Monaco has a shrine to Bill Kimpton in its lobby, and its new restaurant, BDK, is named for Bill's initials.

Harbor Court seems to have switched affiliation to OLS Hotels; the Monaco seems to have rebranded as The Marker Hotel.

Sad to see what has been happening to Kimpton lately.

Yikes! These are two of the nicer Kimptons in SF in my experience. I've stayed at both >10+ times. I hope the Palomar isn't next...

Found this tweet claiming that Kimpton is losing the Triton too.
https://twitter.com/GabeSaglie/statu...30025491345412

And this one claims that they'll only keep 2 hotels in SF:

What is going ON over there?

Triton makes sense as I believe the same property owner owns both that and the Harbor Court.

Hopefully the rumor that only the Sir Francis Drake and the Buchanan will be remaining is but a rumor; that would be a huge loss to the portfolio.

For better or worse, now that Kimpton is owned by IHG they really need to tap into IHG's reservations system so they can sell property owners on their distribution reach.

EDIT-- Looks like the Monaco (now the Marker) is now managed by Destination Hotels.

It turns out the owner of both the Monaco SF and the Harbor Court is LaSalle. Hopefully there isn't a rift between them and Kimpton (or hopefully they haven't decided that the Kimpton management fees no longer make sense for them), as they actually own a lot of Kimptons:

http://www.lasallehotels.com/hotel-portfolio.php

In addition to the two SF properties that just deflagged (and the former Kimpton Serrano), they also own:

SF
Triton

DC
Donovan House
George
Helix
Madera
Palomar
Rouge
Topaz

Seattle
Alexis

San Diego
Solamar

Boston
Onyx

Hotel Triton

As predicted earlier this week, the Triton is now gone as well. With the Prescott closing soon for renovations, the only downtown options for awhile are going to be the SFD and the Palomar.

Sad to see Harbor Court go as we stayed there last May and really enjoyed it. The views were wonderful

This article has speculation of the reason behind the deflaggings (IHG's local union contract):

http://www.hotelmanagement.net/opera...-talking-31941

The article points out that the only SF Kimpton properties currently unionized are the SFD and the Buchanan, which may be the reason behind the rumor the Travelzoo editor tweeted that these will be the only remaining Kimpton properties in the city.

Looks right to me. The Prescott will be closed for renovation, I believe this coming winter.

The Prescott is closing this winter for renovation and will be named the "Hotel Zeppelin" upon reopening. The hotel will be part of the "Z Collection" in San Francisco along with Hotel Zetta and Hotel Zephyr.

And, I take it, not a Kimpton?
