Kimpton Karma Rewards

Does anyone else's profile show tier 3 rewards available for use even though you are inner circle? Mine is currently showing 4 rewards available, all say tier 3 on them.

Are you referring to free night rewards or other types of rewards? When I click on "see my rewards" there are individual boxes that say : "Free Night - Learn How To Redeem."
None of them state any Tier levels including Inner Circle.

When I click on the boxes they show the following info:

Awarded: As InTouch / Expires: 10/02/14
Certificate No: #XXXXXXXXXX
To redeem a free night or amenity,
call a Karma Advisor at 888 695-4678
For an upgrade or late check-out,
let the front desk know at check-in.

Yep, I have some Tier 2 and Tier 3 rewards even though I am IC.

Hi Susan,

Are room upgrades a guaranteed perk? The T&Cs make them sound like they are, but I just failed to get one at the Harbor Court; they said the higher categories are sold out. What if anything is supposed to happen in that situation?

Thanks!

Not Susan, but not guaranteed.

I wonder if this is why they changed the language? If people believe upgrades are guaranteed they may be giving the front desk staff a hard time (not that OP was). I can imagine that this type of behavior/belief is frustrating for hotel staff who then complain to management about entitled IC members.

I asked the IC line this morning about them. While they're not necessary for IC members, she said those can be transferred to other members. That sounds great -- if you have a friend that's not IC give them some karma by applying an upgrade or something to them!

Also not Susan but upgrades were never guaranteed. Moreover, and not to pick on you, but if the higher category rooms were sold out, where did you expect to be placed? (again - not picking on you and I hope my comment doesn't come across in that manner - if so apologies in advance :D). The next question, and for the hotel which cannot answer, were there truly no higher level rooms available? Anyone have experience with the Harbor Court? Back to that dead horse but I'd hate to see SPG-like weaseling going on where the next category is somehow never available (or the maid failed to close the door completely so the room was not "available" at check in).

The Way Back machine is great. From Kimpton re 1-ish year ago:
Kimpton perks prior to Kimpton Karma

T&C prior to Kimpton Karma

Suites were not excluded.

Inner Circle members may receive a complimentary upgrade at time of check-in. Upgrade is subject to availability at time of check-in and will vary by property. The upgrade benefit is available for one room for the personal use of the member only, regardless of the number of additional rooms purchased by the member, and can not be guaranteed in advance of check-in. When available, the complimentary upgrade is granted for one room level category higher than the room reserved by the Member.

Here is something that I believe has changed. Free nights for IC at new hotels were in "deluxe" rooms. Is that still part of the benefit?

Inner Circle members may enjoy one free night at participating new hotels during the designated offer period. The free night benefit is good for a deluxe category room and the Inner Circle upgrade benefit may not be confirmed in advance of check-in. Blackout dates do apply. This benefit is not transferrable and the room must be booked under the elite member's name. ...

So I am looking to redeem a free night and think I just got the run around by Kimpton CS. (I'll try HUACA in a bit though).

According to the CS agent, Kimpton:
1) Has no control over how many rooms each hotel provides for reward stays; and
2) Does not know how many rooms each hotel provides for reward stays.

Further, it took minutes of back and forth to simply get an answer as to what room would be the reward stay room (i.e., the category of room). It was like I was pulling the agent's teeth. I was notified, however, that Kimpton now has 2 million rewards members so don't expect availability to get any better.

I call shenanigans! So for example, The Muse in NYC (it wasn't The Muse that I was looking at) can provide 1 room for a reward stay per whatever week/month and doesn't need to provide that info back to "corporate"? And corporate has no control over what The Muse does regarding reward stays?

Susan: Please let us know if #1 or #2 above correct? The koolaid isn't tasting so good lately. :(

Which property were you trying for? I'm striking out repeatedly as well.

I've been upgraded at Harbor Court

It was, however, a few days into a 7-day stay. It was worth the move though, because their standard rooms are teeny tiny relative to other properties. This was March of this year though, before the program changes.

Thanks for posting this; I have a family member with no status staying at a Kimpton this weekend. I had them sign up for Kimpton Karma and then I called the IC line and the agent was able to transfer a room upgrade and welcome amenity certificate my my account to theirs.

Pm'd you - (until either the Kimpton rep speaks up or I get better CS).

Where are you finding these upgrades and amenities to give away? And what have you done via "Karma" to earn them? (maybe a new thread for that).

Thanks

Cheers

These are awards for Tier 3 members; I'm not sure if anything I've done other than staying at Kimptons and eating in their restaurants has any impact on them ending up in my account in the AWARDS section.
