New La Quinta Card

I use La Quinta quite a bit because I travel with my pets. The new card offer was just released. They recently ended their relationship with Chase.

1. Card issued through First Bankcard, a division of First National Bank of Omaha.

2. No fee.

3. 20K points for first use. Another 20K bonus after $10K in spending within 12 months.

4. Automatic Gold Status.

5. 5 points per dollar spent at La Quinta. 2 points per dollar spent on gas, dining, and car rental. 1 points per dollar on everything else.

Not a bad offer for a free card, and it isn't through Chase or Citi.

[QUOTE=TravelMutt;19356817]I use La Quinta quite a bit because I travel with my pets. The new card offer was just released. They recently ended their relationship with Chase.

Can you tell us anything about their award program? What does 20K points get?

Many locations have a free night for 8000 or 11000 points.

Just canceled this card... I used it for 2 nights stay plus partially payment on a 3rd night.
My husband got denied and he didn't want to pursue it.
I might need to sign up again later in October or so.

Hotel I stayed at was in St. Augustine not bad but nothing extra to report.

How many points did you use for that 2 night stay? I think im up to 22,000 now. Also, my wife got denied for this card, but I didnt. Her credit score is same as mine, but I think she missed a payment like a year ago on a GAP card....they are really strict. Card has no annual fee, so Ill keep it because it helps my credit to debt ratio

I think it was 8k per night can't recall I do know that I called to negotiate a third night since I didn't have enough points at and extra $25 for each night so it wasn't bad.
I tried reopening the canceled card and they didn't budge.
I just purchased some extra points to finish out the points I had left over .. so I am done cleaned out.. Will try to get the card again in the fall and see if they approve.
I had to call them to get the card approved and told them that I wanted to try staying at their hotels during our road trip down to Florida as retirees we are traveling more.
My husband didn't want to bother calling the recon line either. :-(
