I used it at Hotel La Jolla and the Palomar San Diego on consecutive nights and received free valet parking at each property. Saved me a total of $68 + taxes.

That's a good deal. Comped parking is the best.
Did they offer you choices? Just curious.

At Hotel La Jolla, the front desk clerk told me "Well, we've upgraded you and have your welcome amenity ready..." and I gently suggested he could comp my parking. After retreating to the back office to consult with a higher-up, he said he could indeed do that.

At the Palomar, the clerk told me that I was the first guest to use the new secret word. She told me "I'm sure we'll find something nice to do for you" and I politely suggested she could comp my parking. She went to the back office to get approval, and upon her return she told me that it wasn't SOP to give away parking, but because I was the first person to use the new secret word and I was an Inner Circle member, her manager signed off on it.

Ode to the Secret (Winter) Phrase

Ode to the Secret (Winter) Phrase.

On a cold, cold, cold winter day,
With snow and wind making such a fright.
we were lost, lost, lost from our way,
seeking a warm comfortable home for the night.

When what did appear, but a Kimpton Hotel!
Sitting there glowing and melting the snow.
Inside was laughter, warmth and cheer,
and we knew immediately where to go.

So we turned and trudged, making our way,
to the clean, well-lighted place,
that was clearly the end of the day,
for weary, cold travelers tired from the race.

In the lobby, the attendants came quickly,
to lift and take our bags with a smile.
We streched and flexed and looked around ourselves,
at what would now be our home for a while.

Warmed and recharged, to the counter we marched,
Nervous but happy to seek our respite.
We presented our our credentials, stated our names,
And were accepted with a room for the night.

Warm woolen mittens!
We cried with delight,
As we presented our hands,
as we knew was our right.

Then promptly, to our wonder, did appear,
A coupon for warm winter cheer.
It promised a beverage, if enter we would,
the lounge to seek, perhaps, a beer.

So to the bar, we promptly did march,
to be confident, warm and smug by the fire.
And a toast to Bill Kimpton we did then offer,
for the hotel chain, he did inspire.

Nine Zero: Choice of movie & popcorn, bottle of wine, or 2 mini Bailey's & hot chocolate. Asked for free valet and was denied. Their reasoning was that an outside company operated the valet.
