So i have figured out how to book TAP tickets on their website and know what booking class it is.

You will unfortunately need a TA or expertflyer.

Experflyer allows me to look at the booking class and the fare, then I booked Basic on tap.com. I then compared the fare amount on tap to that of expertflyer and it showed YYZ-LIS Basic for U class, CAD$320. Now I know for Miles & Bonus I will get 50% miles for U class.

I finally booked the one way from YYZ to LIS, our return is in J class from CPH to YYZ with TAP in J.

You can only upgrade Y and B fares using UA miles

But how do I find Y and B fares with TAP? It does not show fare classes on their website that I can see.

Same problem.

I think the safest & fastest way is to call TPs hotline.

Although you could make dummy bookings on Expedia etc., and see which
booking classes are spilled out.
Tedious though.

Based on the below experience, it seems that what matters to earn miles on star alliance programs other than TAP victoria is both the fare type and the booking class. Here is my guess:

- If you book a DISCOUNT regardless of the booking class, it will be transformed to O E or T when TAP reports the flight to star alliance partner and you will earn little or nothing.

- if you book BASIC on a cheap booking class below A, the booking class is not changed. If you book on a class above A, the booking class is transformed to A.

- if you book PLUS, you earn as per the booking class, no transformation.

More data points would be great, but I will not risk to pay 70 EUR extra on a cheap O fare to possibly earn nothing

Just saw this post that would prove me wrong, and for once it is to the benefit of the passenger

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/27365617-post449.html

TP fares in O E and T class booked as basic (including a bag and changeable for a fee) seem to accrue 50% as A class on A3.

This is ridiculous. TAP would be one airline I will refuse to travel with. Much better to retain A3 status with SAS.

I have a question about booking class on TAP.
I got a ticket with A class (outbound) and K class (inbound).
It was a pretty expensive ticket, but A class is not eligible for most of airlines, including SAS, where I usually collect points from most of my flights.

So far I found A3 and TP are the only airlines that provide the points if you fly with A. Are there other airlines that gives points?

Thanks for your info.

I confirm that a TAP flight in super cheap O class booked as "basic" with luggage credits as an A class flight on AEGEAN miles and bonus program, so 50% of the flown miles with no minimum earning. I should have tried the classic or the flex O class to have another data point.

I booked now a ticket in classic and have booking class O (O48CLC0B fare rule). I want to credit it to M+B, hope will get at least 50% miles...
