Buying a duty free liquor, JFK or MAD?

We have a flt from JFK to LIS, stop over @ MAD. Can we buy a duty free bottle in JFK without problem @ MAD? Or should we buy @ MAD?

As you MAD-LIS is an Internal EU Flight you cannot Buy Duty Free in MAD. Only Duty Paid.

Now all you need to find out is, can you take US Sealed Duty Free through MAD Security.

Hopefully One Day we will have Global Airport Security Standardization..until then its a Lottery

Exactly. In MAD, as has been noted already, it will be duty paid and likely a ripoff.
On the basis of the above, you're better off buying it in Lisbon.

The thing to note is that the local taxes in MAD are a LOT less than in the rest of the EU, so even if you have to buy duty paid, it is often a lot less than other EU countries duty paid.

Would it be possible to have your bags checked in as far as MAD. Collect them, place the DF in the checked bags and take them through customs and re-check them for the flight to LIS? That way you would be able to buy them in JFK at the much cheaper prices.
