FF program in Vueling. An exceptional case in LCC world?

I have just read that Vueling is starting a FF program called "punto". The conditions are available in its web page.

I have always wondered why the LCC do not offer these kind of programs more often. Of course, Vueling is not the first company in doing this, but as far as I know, not too many of them have a FF program. Among them, I can remember know Air Berlin o Virgin Blue in Australia. I don't want to include here airlines subsidiary of major airlines (like Clickair in relation to Iberia, or Jetstar with Qantas), where it is possible accumulate points in the program of the parent airline.

I consider that this is a very good idea in order to strengthen client loyalty. Why other big LCC like easyjet or ryanair don't have one?

Ryanair: FR do not take into the city specified on routu like Frankfurt flight going to HHN, either you are paying for your checked-in luggage, why they even spending money for FF if they earn money in other way.

Germanwings also has the Boomerang as their FFP

Add also southwest and jetblue and some others in the US.they are considered low cost carriers and they follow that philosophy, Jetblue less than southwest I guess! :D

truth is FF programs earn most airlines money. First, they sell points to banks for credit cards and give points for shopping online via affiliates. In all they help a lot of airlines.

You might be interested to know that Mike Barger, president and one of the founders of JetBlue Airways, is on the board of directors over at Vueling. I really don't know if this means anything but I thought I'd let you know.
